Legal & General Confirms Speculations: 3.5 Million Ordinary Shares Bought and Deleted From Counter
Legal & General Group Plc confirmed the purchase of 3,500,000 of its own ordinary shares on 14th May, 2025. The shares bought carried a value of 2.5 pence each. Barclays Capital Securities Limited, the Company’s broker, handled the transaction. This buyback resulted in a decrease in the total number of ordinary shares in issue by the Company. These repurchased shares are to be cancelled, the Company confirmed.
Detailed prices at which the shares were bought ranged from the highest price of 240.80 to the lowest at 237.80. Altogether, the total number of the Company’s ordinary shares in issue after this repurchase and the consequent cancellation of purchased shares stands at 5,820,504,349. Interestingly, no ordinary shares are held in treasury, leaving the total number of voting rights in the Company also at 5,820,504,349.
