City of London and Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trusts Undertake Significant Share Transactions
The City of London Investment Trust and the Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust, two well-established pillars of the UK’s investment landscape, have recently made significant movements in their own shareholdings.
The City of London Trust announced the sale of 175,000 of its own ordinary 25p shares from its treasury at a price of 437p per share. This move modifies the holdings and consequently the number of voting rights in the company. The number of those rights attached to ordinary shares (calculated at one vote for every 15 shares held, excluding those held in treasury) stands at 32,800,473. Including the First Preference Stock and Preferred Ordinary Stock, the total number of voting rights in the company is now at 32,860,155.
Both these scenarios significantly recalibrate the voting rights within these organizations and the notifications indicate transparency from both trusts. Shareholders can use these updates as a platform to monitor and manage their interest in either trust, and comply with FCA’s Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules. The trusts’ financial footwork personifies the dynamic state of play in today’s investment world.
